Long ago, when days were peaceful, Aerwyn was a minor chief who ruled over the town of Leu. His rise to power was no spectacle; he was the son of the previous chief, but Leu's isolated existence was rather agreeable under Erwin's leadership. Unfortunately, greater powers beyond the horizon vied for more lands and peoples to subjugate, and Leu found itself caught in the sights of some unknown invaders from the south.
An army of the Drunethaen House was marching its way through the wooded frontier of Kaegorin lands, and their might fell first upon the people of Leu. Having no way to defend themselves against such a force, Aerwyn ordered every able body to grab a weapon and form a defensive line in a desperate effort to survive. The invading army crashed against the impromptu militia, but the Drunethaens carved forward through blood and flesh as if wading through water. Aerwyn himself could see the carnage from his position, and he had prepared himself for glorious death in battle. Just as Leu had entered its final hour, Aerwyn heard shouting from behind. A pincer attack? no, it was another army! Led by Kura of Urzhaerin, his army emerged from behind and threw themselves at the Drunethaen flanks. Once the situation dawned on the attackers, the center broke into a disorderly retreat to avoid encirclement, and the unwelcome butchers disappeared back into the cursed fields from which they emerged.
The battle had ended, and men cheered, but Aerwyn could only see the blood staining the grass, and he knew that a head-count would tell a story of a doomed people with no way to prevent another attack from grinding them to dust. Still, he presented himself to Kura with gratitude, and Kura gave Aerwyn his offer. It was a seat at Kura's council of chiefs in Urzhaerin and a promise to protect the people of Leu. Erwin accepted Kura's offer of sanctuary, and the Exodus of Leu began. Every last soul was to relocate in Urzhaerin, where Kura and his dynasty would forever protect them, and Erwin and his dynasty would forever advise and assist the ruler of Urzhaerin, a position that is held today by Kura's son, Zurkan.
